New Malabrigo in Rasta and Rios!

|
You asked, and we delivered! Fresh to JBW in 2019, we now carry Urth Yarns Harvest Worsted! An Urth Yarns staple, this solid sister of self-striping Uneek Worsted is just as soft and squishy! Dyed using roots, fruits, and nuts, the result is a variety of earthy (Urth-y?!) tones, perfect for crafting of all kinds.
We're not the only ones crushing on Harvest Worsted right now! Featured in the Vogue Knitting Winter '18/19 issue, Harvest Worsted makes a stunning appearance, alongside its self-striping counterpart, in the Brioche Shawl. Designed by Vanessa Ewing, this kite-shaped shawl is worked in two-color, reversible brioche.
We're kind of, sort of, truly, deeply, madly in love! We love the combination of the solid and self-striping colorways. Want to knit one of your own?! (Us too!) Get the kit today!

Exclusive Kits and KALS!
Yarn isn't the only thing that we love - we also love pairing yarn and patterns together to create our exclusive kits and KALs! We had the best time knitting along with you for some of our favorite KALs to date in 2018! We started off the year by celebrating Team USA in the 2018 Winter Olympics with the Speckles and Stripes KAL. Shortly after that, we saw red and launched into the Yarnmaid's Tale KAL! Fast forward to the summer, and we had a ferociously fin... err, fun... time watching Shark Week and knitting the Shark Bite 3-D KAL! Rounding out our 2018 KALs was the Drums of Autumn KAL, allowing us to head back in time with our favorite time traveling duo! Stay tuned in 2019 for more kits and KALs comin' your way!

Malabrigo Nuevo!
We're stayin' on the new year, new yarn train this week! (Hey, it's only been 11 days, it still counts!) This week, we're OBSESSING over these new colors from Malabrigo. Honestly, what could be better than fresh, new colors to ring in the New Year? Not a whole lot!
Supple, soft, and hand-dyed to perfection, each skein of Malabrigo is unique, much like the work of art that is created from each hank! Now, only one question remains. Which will you add to your stash first?!

|
Have you been remembering to hashtag your FO's on Instagram with #stashrewind?! If not, you're missing out on the chance to have your stash rewound! Each month, we rewind the stash of one lucky winner - if your project is selected, you'll win a Jimmy Beans Wool gift certificate for the cost of the yarn used in your winning project!
Feeling knit-spired, we picked a few of our favorite December entries, and kitted them up! We figured if they inspired us, they might inspire you too! (Special thanks to @stackinstitches, @knitsbylindalou, and @thismariposaknits for entering!) Want to enter this month? You have until the end of January, and you have unlimited chances to enter each month (one photo per project). Time to get knittin', and start snappin'!

Tosh Blanket KAL!
|
Don't you just love a pattern with a beautiful story behind it? So do we! This year's Tosh Blanket KAL features Melanie Berg's blanket pattern, From Grandma With Love. Not only is the blanket simply stunning, featuring knit squares that are joined together using the single crochet method, but we absolutely fell in love with the sweet inspiration behind the pattern.
|
Melanie's mother-in-law passed away suddenly from cancer in 2015, two short weeks after Melanie gifted her an abundance of yarn in berry tones, "her colors", in the hopes of providing some cheer and positivity. Though she lost the original yarn to moths, Melanie wanted to design something special that would provide comfort to her children.
|
Thus, With Love From Grandma was designed! Taking inspiration from her mother-in-law's style - classy and old-fashioned, with a modern twist - Melanie designed a beautiful blanket, featuring delicate, lacey squares, with design elements that keep the knit fun and engaging. Now complete, Melanie loves to see her kids wrapped up in a physical representation of their grandma's love.
|
|
While the blanket itself is beautiful, it's the story behind the blanket that really drew us in. It tugged at our heartstrings, as we've all lost someone that we loved. How wonderful to have the opportunity to remember lost loved ones through our favorite craft, knitting! Join us in 2019, as we knit along together!

Project On Our Needles!
We LOVE Wendy's Serriform shawl! It's such a beautiful design and really makes good use of a single skein of sock weight yarn. Designed by Rachel Roden, of Unraveled Designs, Serriform was released to coincide with Unraveled Designs 2018 Micro-Brewed color, Star-Spangled Sally Ride.
Featuring a a simple garter stitch body, with a serrated edge that is knit as you go, this shawl is reversible, so you don't have to worry about an unsightly wrong side showing! Wendy had such a fun time knitting it, she couldn't wait to show it off!
