Did you know today is Tell a Fairy Tale day?! This unofficial holiday encourages people to read and tell various fairy tales, and it couldn't have come at a better time. Fairy tales are a wonderful way to teach morals and open up your imagination to include something a little magical in your daily life. Did you see a ring of mushrooms? Fairy circle. Missing the matching sock to your favorite pair? Gnomes stole it. Unexplained happenings? Pixies. The world seems a little brighter when you add a level of mystery and magic to it!
Working at Jimmy Beans is sort of like a fairy tale in itself. Walking the cobblestone streets of the yarn kingdom, waving to passersby as you pick a sumptuous-looking skein of alpaca from the winding trees. Living, breathing, and making with yarn is something that just feels right, tickling that part of our hearts that makes us happy, and the best part of it all is that we get to share it with you!
Our story begins with a maker, eager to get into their next project. They've got plenty of time to consider what to make, but they are quite picky. Jimmy, the Yarn Fairy heard of this plight and took it upon herself to help this struggling maker. She would defi-knit-ley have something up her sleeve! She led the maker on the beginnings of a journey through the world of yarn and accessories to get them ready for the perfect project!

Sometimes the perfect project may not be for ourselves at all but for others. One of the most fun and adorable ways to get into the knitting and crochet mood is to make for children and babies. Jimmy waved her wand and - poof - appeared a package in front of the maker!
We're so excited to announce the Tiny Tots Tin! Ideal for any knitter excited to start on some cute, cozy baby projects for a loved one! With babies on the brain, the JBW design team wanted to create something special that can be made and gifted in the same container, limiting waste and focusing on the oh-so-cute garments made for little tots!

Continuing on their march through the countryside, Jimmy turned to the maker and asked, "Oh, dear maker, what ails you?" The maker's cheeks flushed. They swallowed hard and nervously explained, "I fear that I will fall in love with everything you show me - how am I supposed to choose!?" Jimmy hummed in response, tapping her chin with her wand (which looked suspiciously like a knitting needle), "Well, that sounds like the opposite of a problem! There's always time to make more than one project, so loving every yarn just expands your horizons further!!" She was met with a smile from the maker, this seemed to cheer them up quite a bit.

Making is a way to bond with whoever you gift your project to, and so is telling fairy tales to children when they're getting ready for bed. While brief, the experience was enlightening, showing the beauty of the world in just one creature. They were in awe.

As we close out this fairy tale, it's important to remember that not all stories are written in books. Some are spoken, others are painted or drawn and have multiple interpretations of characters' motives and reasons to achieve their goals. As makers, we heavily rely on written and visual formats to help us with our own journeys and how we can reach that glorious ending that we all fantasize about (which, of course, is wearing our new garments with love and pride)!

Think of this as a virtual Knit Night, with the next meeting being on Friday, March 5th. Each session lasts about an hour, giving you ample time for some help, some chit-chats, and some laughs. Winni's Beacon Pullover

Can we get a shi-BOOYEAH up in here? Our Bean, Winnie was stocking the store one day and squished some Shibui Knits Haven and the rest is, well, history! She fell so deeply in love with the luscious, sumptuous strings of the Shibui yarn that she vowed to make something absolutely splendid - and that she did!
By holding Shibui Knits Haven yarn together with Shibui Knits Silk Cloud, she created a garment that's both luxurious and cozy, making her winter wardrobe that much more incredible! The dramatic batwing structure and shoulder shaping give a modern and elegant twist on the typical pullover silhouette and we couldn't be more jealous - good job, Winni!
