| Rowan, Shibui, New Cocoknits, & Swell Sales-Oh My! We're Well R:E:D: in Yarn | | |
Using wool blends in soft and fluffy weights to keep us nice and cozy while the wind howls outside (seriously, it's been ultra-windy here in Reno lately) is one of our favorite pastimes. But what if we're stuck in a rut? What if we're in the mood to start on a sweater but can't for the life of us figure out what pattern to embark on?
Well, did you know that Jimmy Beans Wool has ways to help fix that conundrum? When you click on the kits tab on our website, we have dropdown menus on the left side to help you find the perfect project just for you, complete with options for difficulty and category. You can check multiple boxes to expand your options between things like women's pullovers, hats and gloves, and scarves and shawls! Each kit is put together by hand, crafted with love using yarn we carry, making your checkout process that much easier!

Finding books filled with patterns to keep us warm is always an option as well, like the ever-popular R:E:D: Rescue Endangered by Design book. This book has patterns that not only are pleasing to the eye but also bring to light the importance of conserving endangered species.
Pairing each pattern to an animal and the dangers they face in the world (polar bears, pangolins, and three-toed sloths to name a few), this book comes complete with stunning photography and solutions to help them! $10.00 from each sale will be split between Oceana, WildAid, and the Jane Goodall Institute to assist them further in their mission.

What do we think of when it comes to cozy snuggle weather? Fluffy yarn, tweed, and something that feels buttery against the skin, right? Nothing is worse than finishing a project and then realizing after all those ends are woven in that the yarn we chose is itchy. Sometimes we try and stick through it by wearing it anyway and dealing with the scratchy consequences, but other times we decide to cut out knitting and crocheting forever (until another pattern sparks our interest, of course, hehe).
Shibui Knits Tweed Silk Cloud is the answer to that age-old question of "what yarn do I use today?" The hazy, silky sheen of the fan-favorite Silk Cloud base has come together with the maker's powerhouse that is tweed! Tweed is one of those things that never seems to go out of style, making anything look rustic and cozy with just a few flecks of color and texture thrown into the mix! Irresistibly soft, Shibui Knits Tweed Silk Cloud can be crafted with all on its lonesome or tag-teamed with another yarn to make a unique combination of textures!
Shibui Knits Tweed Silk Cloud is available in the sophisticated Shibui Knits color palette which consists of dark, moody hues and vibrant, playful shades, making a concise palette with wiggle room for all makers to find a favorite color!

It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's SUPERWASH!
With the bitter chills and the presence of Jack Frost still nipping at our noses, we've decided that making something out of wool is a no-brainer! The sturdy, reliable nature of wool helps with insulation, keeping you nice and warm when you need to brave the winter winds outside!
Rowan Pure Wool Superwash Worsted is one of our favorites to turn to when it comes to the chilly months. Composed of 100% wool and available in a wide palette of soft neutrals, moody darks, and vibrant brights, this yarn is sure to impress even the pickiest of makers. The versatility of this yarn lends itself well to use in projects ranging from beanies and cardigans to something a little more funky like couch cushions! This yarn also has the added benefit of being superwash, making your washing process that much easier!
Each skein of Rowan Pure Wool Superwash Worsted is, as the name would suggest, a worsted weight, meaning we suggest using a US size 7 needle in your future projects. It's also put up in a way where you can immediately get to knitting or crocheting as soon as it arrives on your doorstep - talk about convenient!

We love Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light for a multitude of reasons, but we have to say, the ease of pairing it with other yarns, using it alone, and not having to worry about splitting your yarn when you're knitting is a huge bonus!
The single-ply nature of TML + Tweed lets the yarn speak for itself and glide across any set of needles or hooks with the added benefit (bene-knit?) of the slight, hazy halo surrounding the base of the yarn. It adds to the coziness and comfort of each skein!
