| Last Chance To Snag Fright Club For Oct. 1st! Precious Gems & Geometric Patterns | | |
As autumn begins to close in, we have to ask ourselves - what are we going to make!? As our wardrobes start to lend themselves more toward layering and we start busting out the blankets, we can't help but get a little smile on our faces when we wrap up in something comfortable and cozy, keeping out the chilly mornings and frigid evenings. We also like to start using more patterns in our projects like plaid and houndstooth to really get the fall fever running high!
|
Scheepjes must agree because starting on September 22nd (and running through October 13th), the Official Scheepjes Facebook Groups will be hosting the Snaggletooth MAL! This make-along offers advanced beginner crocheters the perfect introduction to mosaic crochet! Designer Esme Crick has prepped the pattern instructions and step-by-step blog tutorials for each stage of the MAL, making it easy to follow along with!
The Snaggletooth MAL produces a beautiful, all-over houndstooth pattern with a striking, contrasting border that makes an eye-catching piece that you'll be reaching for time and time again when the temps dip and you feel the chill in the air!

There's something so lovely about winter. Whether you fall in love with the sprinklings of snow lit up by fairy lights, the nip of cold on your nose, the smell of cinnamon on the air, or enjoying a nice cup of cocoa indoors, this season is filled with whimsy, romance, and magic!
One of our favorite things to do in the wintertime is make up the Jimmy Beans Wool Craftvent Calendar and this year, we have plenty of offerings in the ways of colorway and project size! Today, we're focusing on the beautiful shawls that are soon going to make their way into our wardrobes!
|
|
The knit Festive Wrap was designed by Ambah O'Brien, in which wavy stripes reflect the summer heat for our southern hemisphere friends while we snuggle into sweaters and shawls for warmth this December.
The elongated heart motifs add to the romance of this shawl, surrounded by eyelets and other lace designs that dance across the shawl in harmony together.
|
The crochet Tidings Wrap, designed by Jane Crowfoot features artful stripes of color that come together to make a beautiful, lacy masterpiece with mosaic-like flowers/snowflakes. Reminding us of the fractal frost that adorns our windows on those cold, winter nights.
The lacework in this project comes together for an elegant masterpiece worthy of celebrating this season!
|
|
Each project comes in two colorways: Buttermint: Reminiscent of icy blue horizons and chilly weather! The cool blues in this option are offset by deep purples (sugarplums, anyone?) and a stripe of light yellow, which resembles the warm glow of candles on the freshly fallen snow, resulting in a beautifully eye-catching masterpiece.
Ribbon Candy: The warm pinks remind us of the glow seen on the underbellies of the clouds during sunset. This option, while primarily baby pinks and salmons, features a stripe of magenta and yellow to warm it up - almost as warm as you'll be curled up with this project, hehe!

When we say we've been waiting for the start of autumn, we haven't been joking about it - we're super excited! Fall is a maker's paradise, not too warm, not too cold, just right for layering and making hand-made goodies! Layering also means we can start working with heavier weights of yarn again without the fear of the sweltering heat bearing down on us!
One of the heavier weights of yarn we've recently picked up is Berroco Topaz! Crafted from a beautiful blend of wool, alpaca, and a touch of nylon for strength, we've fallen in love with the soft squish and long color changes within each skein. Pleasant on the skin and easy on the eyes, this yarn is the full package when it comes to yarny goodness! Each worsted skein of Berroco Topaz holds 240 yards to play with, weighing 100g.

Feelin' Fine in Freia!
Sometimes picking out colors for your projects can be a tall order - especially when said project contains more than two colors. Seriously, the time and effort of choosing 6 or more colors make our heads spin sometimes! That's why we love fades and self-patterning yarn so much! They take the stress out of choosing the right shades and make knitting or crocheting our projects a breeze!
|
|
Some of our favorite fade sets are the Freia Fine Handpaints Minikins Palettes. Like little painter's palettes for your needles and hooks, these tiny cakes of yarn arrive in multicolor (palette) or monochrome (ombre) options, effortlessly fading through the colors of the rainbow. Each cake weighs around 25-grams and contains 107 yards of 100% Merino yarn, making for some ultra-squishy, soft strings to lose yourself in. From warm neutrals to cool earth tones and bright neons, there's a palette for everyone to work with - perfect for knit and crochet colorwork or to simply just play around with fades!

Color-Coded Crochet!
Do you ever get in the mood to clean and organize during the changing seasons? We know spring cleaning is totally a thing, but no one talks about fall cleaning! The cooling temps give us enough energy to work around the house without the fear of overheating or getting soaked in sweat. This week, we took some time for our house interiors, opening windows to let in the breeze and cleaning up our stash (because it's gotten pretty out of control over the past two years).
Organizing our notions, accessories, yarn, and tools is a passion for us, and addi makes this easier than ever with their Color Coded Crochet Hooks! Each hook is designed with an ergonomic comfort grip handle and is color-coded by size! With sizes ranging from 2.00mm to 6.00mm, there's a size for every project (including the DK-weight Scheepjes MAL from earlier).
Highly collectible and fun to use, each hook is expertly made by our friends over at addi. The finish on the hook lends itself to quick crocheting, making your projects come to life right before your eyes! The plastic handle is 4.5" long while the metal hook is about 1.5" long.

We've talked a lot about fall arriving in this newsletter, but what about Fright Club? The cast-on date of our second iteration of Jimmy Beans Wool's Fright Club is quickly approaching - have you ordered your creepy kit yet!? To prepare for October, we've created two threads you can follow along with on Ravelry, one that allows spoilers, while the other does not. That way, everyone can join in the fun without fear of accidentally spoiling it for someone else!
There, you can chat with other like-minded creators who are knitting or crocheting the same project as you, ask for help, and simply show off your progress, whether you've just cast on or are just about to bind off! Chat with other people and have a grand time together bonding over friendships forged over frogging and learning new techniques!
Please note: If you haven't ordered your Fright Club kit yet, today is the last day you can do so and receive it in time for the October 1st cast on!
