Some of you may have heard through the grapevine, but we're also announcing that the Sierra Nevada Yarn Crawl is postponed due to the Caldor Fire and will now be running from October 14th-17th.

Hello, Halloween!

Marching into September means we're quickly closing in on the beginning of October, meaning we can officially start counting down the days before our annual Fright Club cast on date arrives! The ghouls here at Jimmy Beans have been working hard to make sure everything for this project goes out on time, so we decided to take a quick break to focus on the big project this week.

The Witchful Thinking Cowl and Mitts Set brings colorwork to a whole new level, thanks to the marvelous mastermind behind the design, Amy Gunderson!

Broken down into a months-worth of fabulous surprises to keep you (and your needles and hooks) on your toes, each individually wrapped notion and ball of yarn act as a little treat. This gives you a little something special to look forward to each day before you settle down for some crafting action!

The Witchful Thinking Cowl and Mitts Set uses the strings of Madelinetosh Twist Light, a fingering-weight merino yarn blended with nylon to keep it stretchy and strong! Perfect for keeping this project as comfortable and cozy as possible while still feeling great on the skin! The best part? Your One-Stop Block Shop!

For all of the projects we make, how often do we take the time to properly block them? While it's true, some projects don't need to be blocked, we can't help but think about what our closets would look like if we did block everything we made.

Blocking projects is the process of wetting and then pushing/pulling stitches to be more even and to increase - or even in some cases decrease - the size of our FOs (finished objects) so they fit the way they were designed to. Whether you lightly or aggressively block a project, you're essentially "freezing" everything in place. It can be a little tedious at times, but blocking our projects just makes them look so darn good!!

We've recently restocked some blocking faves to make this portion of your making process go a little more smoothly, hehe!

We love using blocking wires! Maneuvering them into our stitches, while probably the most time-consuming part, is oh, so worth it! They help us block delicate things like lacework shawls so we can show off the beautiful stitch pattern!

The Lazadas Flexible Blocking Wires help us with strange shapes and straight edges alike (and even scallops), making them a heavy hitter in the blocking world. These rust-repellant beauties also come with T-Pins to get those little details!

Where would we be without talking about our favorite part of the blocking process? Fragrance! Okay, maybe there's more to our gentle washes than the fragrance, but that totally plays a part in it. The gentle rinses of Eucalan and Soak are ideal for keeping your handmade garments fresh, clean, and in excellent condition. Each scent is sensitive on the nose, hands, and fibers, which, of course, leaves us jumping for joy!

A little birdy has been talking up a storm lately, and we're here to let the cat outta the bag, er, spill the beans? We've been developing something special for a few weeks now and it's finally time to let y'all in on the big secret! Thanks to a little help (a lotta help) from our fambam down in Texas, the MT Community Love Fund gifted us the newest edition to our shop - the Tiny Yarn Library! The mission is to gift more of these in the future!

Inspired by the trend of fiber libraries popping up around the United States and designed by Team Beans, the Tiny Yarn Library works similarly to the Little Free Library, the world's largest book-sharing movement, in which you can give yarn and take yarn in return. Want a way to destash a skein in need of a good home? We're the destination to do so! Maybe you want to do some good and buy a nice, soft yarn and immediately donate it to the Tiny Yarn Library. Whatever your reasoning may be, we just ask that the yarn you supply is lightly used at most. Please don't place something you wouldn't want to see in there like scraps or half-skeins - we want this to be a positive experience for everyone!

The Tiny Yarn Library is located directly outside of our retail shop (ya can't miss it!) and was built by hand, making it a unique and attractive installation for us! Please don't be a stranger and come down to check it out and say hi to us or tell us of your spoils - we love to hear how it's being used!

Camp Color's Sweet Tooth Tank
